Holly Golightly Takes A Roman Holiday!

Welcome to A Diva’s Guide to the Sweet Life!

Our new blog will be the fabulous, au currant way La Dolce Diva will be spreading the word of La Dolce Vita throughout the Diva UNIVERSE!.…or at least to those who read my blog.

A Diva’s Guide to the Sweet Life will attempt to be the portal into the world I aspire to live. And I will take you along astride my powder pink Vespa.. If we can’t live there full time– at least we can escape on a daily basis. It will a lighthearted, whimsical journey. Picture yourself as Holly Golightly taking a Roman Holiday!

The inspiration for this blog comes from my love of Italy. Also, my La Dolce Diva Bath & Body Collection which is inspired by Italy and being a Sweet Diva! I will be writing about food, wine, travel, shopping, books, movies and any other little Diva thought that flits through my head. It won’t all be about Italy…but it will be about how to try and live La Dolce Vita. In little ways, reading a quick blurb about Cleopatra, how gelato is becoming the new rage across America, sharing a glass of wine and an inside giggle with girlfriends, arranging a bouquet of flowers on your desk-just for you to enjoy. These are all everyday things…but this is life.

Before we begin, let me say this, I am not always a happy-go-lucky cheerful person. I am not the glass is half full type of gal in every situation. I do not go through life in rose-colored glasses (although that does sound cute.) Anyway, I am just like most of you. Some days a good day is just getting through it.

But maybe I can get you to take a break and make a mental journey with me to my favorite place on Piazza Della Signoria in Florence, Italy, sitting on the steps to the Loggia, facing the Palazzo. The breeze is blowing strands of our hair into our gelato. The tourists are all shuffling around staring up at the statues behind us in the Loggia. We already know all the stautes by heart. The carabinieri tell us we cannot sit on the steps to eat. We know this. We just like to see how long it will take them to tell us and how serious and stern they are. We jump up, brush off our shorts and take a stroll in front of the Uffizi Museum.  Long lines of people are waiting to get into the  museum filled with priceless art. Bottecelli’s Venus lives there. We already know how to get in early and avoid the lines. The sun glares across the Arno, through the arches and into the passageway in front of the museum. We squint our eyes at the bright bands of light. But the tall buildings keep us shaded and the stone keeps us cool. The children and pretty young girls run from the “statues” dressed as Roman Gods that “come to life” and jump off their cardboard boxes as parents and boyfriends try to snap a picture to capture the moment. You don’t need a camera to do that.

This is when I am truly happy. Standing on the stones of Florence. When I can breath the air and feel the history.

This is when I can feel La Dolce Vita. I hope you can feel it too.

What a wonderful “Divaesque” moment! I could see, feel and taste every
sentence. I can’t wait to get there again, even if only in my minds eye.

    Ciao XOXO
